Synthetic particulate graft materials have been used in medical bone regeneration for over 100 years and recently their use has been growing rapidly in dentistry.

The speaker, with over 20 years’ experience (and 7,000 grafts) of using synthetic particulate materials, will evaluate the scientific research, his own and others, to help understand the improved efficacy that has led to this surge in popularity.

He will also examine protocols to optimise clinical outcomes, from his original published protocol to the many exciting new concepts in a more minimal surgical approach. The idea of reduced surgical sites is well researched and practiced in medicine and the benefits are now being seen in dentistry and oral surgery.

The idea of host bone regeneration and healing will be looked into, and how to up-regulate this response with these newer materials and protocols. This will include numerous clinical cases including:
• Buccal defects and dehiscences
• Apicectomy and cyst removal
• Sinus augmentation
• Peri-implantitis
• Periodontitis
